EMPLOYEE BENEFITS & EXECUTIVE COMPENSATION
Alison Patel has extensive experience advising a broad base of clients, including public and private companies, tax-exempt and governmental clients of all sizes, in employee benefit and executive compensation matters. She has significant experience in the following areas:
- Reviewing, designing and drafting various forms of qualified retirement plans, including:
- 401(k), 403(b) and 457(b) plans
- Reviewing, designing and drafting executive compensation and equity arrangements, including:
- 457(f), severance, employment, SERPs, nonqualified deferred compensation plans, stock options, restricted stock and appreciation rights
- Advising clients on ERISA and tax compliance matters
- Assisting executive compensation clients with achieving exemption from or compliance with Section 409A
- Representing clients in dealings with the Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor, including:
- plan audits, determination letter submissions and voluntary corrections utilizing the Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System (EPCRS), the Internal Revenue Service's voluntary correction program
